How is there a fast way to search the newsgroup by
author title or date catagories etc

Hi dk,

The best search engine for Usenet is
http://www.google.com/advanced_group_search

Specify the newsgroup (microsoft.public.word.* if you want to search all
Word newsgroups on the MS server).
You can also specify the author (by name and/or mail address), and the range
of dates...

Google might not list new posts for a couple of hours, but that's really the
only small drawback.

Regards,
Klaus

If you are using an NNTP newsreader such as Outlook Express, you can ungroup
threads and click on column headers to sort by Subject, From (poster), Sent
(date), etc. You can also use Find to search for specific text in the
subject line or the body of the message.
