Find or Filter a record on a form?

Hello everyone.

I'm having a tiny problem, maybe very easy but I haven't coded in a couple
of years and I'm rusty. I have a tabbed form with filtered subforms each.

I need to find/filter a record from a table. If the record exists then goto
that record to allow updates; if it doesn't ask for a new record input. I
know it's easy 'cause I used to do that in BBC++ (that's my background) by
bookmarking the record. But I'm kinda' new to vba in access. So any help
would be appreciated thanks in advance.

In the code sample you can change the the MsgBox when no record is found to
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec

So it will move to a new record.
