Find Now returns "no items found" in a public folder when it should find something

I have an SBS 2003 server with Exchange 2003 running with Outlook 2003
clients.
In one particular public folder if the user selects this folder in Outlook
and uses
the "find" button, types in the criteria in the "look for" field and clicks
the "find now" button - Outlook does not find anything (there things to be
found) and comes up with a "no items found" message. If the user uses
advanced find from the "options" drop down menu - then the search works!

When the user trys this seach in other public folders (with the relevant
search criteria) - it works. All the public folders are setup as contact
type folders and seem to have the same permissions and settings. This search
worked, and has apparently stopped working recently.

I have created a separate public folder and copied all the contacts from the
folder concerned into it - but the "find now" button still does not work
here
either.

Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

Bramblewood.

Hello,

Thank you for posting.

According to your environment, I think the problem may be caused by the
contacts itself in public folder. Let us try the following steps to
isolate/eliminate this problem:
1. Please logon to another client computer and perform the test again.
2. Search in the folder using other keywords and check if the problem
happens every time.
3. If the issue only occurs when searching with a specific keyword, please
provide me the following information:
a. The keyword you used.
b. Screenshots for the two results.
c. If the difference of the two search results is same in every test,
please send the problematic contacts to me at (e-mail address removed).
You can create a new mail message and drag the contact(s) to the email
directly.

Sincerely,

My co-worker Andrew was looking at this yesterday when I was out of the
office. I agree with you its corrupt data and this has been confirmed.

I exported contact data to excel spreadsheet, deleted entries in Public
folder. Saved Excel file to CSV format and then re-imported back in and all
working fine. Searching works perfectly.

Thanks for your help

Regards,

Phil
