I brought up the little box (Ctrl+F) and typed in a few words (one at a
time) that I knew were on the page, but I kept getting the message that it
reached the end of the document. I know I spelled the words right and that
the Up/Down setting was correct. An hour later I went back to the same page,
did the same things and the feature worked fine.

This was not the first time that I experienced something like this. Is this
feature known to have its idiosyncrasies or might there be something about
using it that an unsophisticated user may not be aware of?

If you are referring to find in IE the problem is most likely related to
viewing a page with frames and the wrong frame is selected when you do the
search. Click in the frame and then do the find.

Thank you, I think you may have partially solved my problem, albeit the
diagnosis was off a bit. The page did not have frames, but my failure to
click on the page may have caused the malfunction. I just went to that page
via a link, tried the Find, and it failed. Then I clicked on the page and
the Find function worked. But there are still some other mysteries. I will
continue to play around with it to see if there's a pattern.

Thanks again.
