Have typed names into find a contact incorrectly. How do
I delete? I now have several entries that I do not want,
but cannot find any way to remove the wrong ones.

Remove them from where?
The Contacts Folder?
Autocompletion cache?
What version of Outlook?

Russ,

We've got the same issue and I think it's in the
autocompletion cache you mentioned. When a contact's
email address changes, and we type in the name in an email
TO: field, the autocompletion popup still shows the old
email. How can we clear that?

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:

There is no autocompletion feature in Outlook 2000 (and hence no
autocompletion cache). The Find a Contact dropdown simply stores any name
you've typed into that field before and have successfully matched to a
Contact Record.

I don't understand what the Autocompletion cache is

My Contacts are fine, full of information and accessible
from the alphabetical index; however, there is a short
list of contacts I need to access daily, and I thought
the "Find a Contact" was the ideal way.

I put the "Find a Contact" on the toolbar. Originally,
all I had to do was type in a name from my contacts
folder, and it would automatically show the name in the
dropdown menu, and open the contact details.
Now, that doesn't seem to work at all. Why? How am I
supposed to enter them?

The problem I was having was removing misspelt names
from "Find a Contact" on the toolbar - but strangely, the
misspelt name would bring up the right contact

Thanks! It could really be much more useful if they searched the name,
company and file as fields consistently. I find it _much_ more
convenient for the simple searches than the Advanced Search. (And I
don't quite think that searching for a company name is actually an
advanced search... :)

And while I have you on the line, so to speak, another one with this
field: it finds results in multiple address books, but in the result
dialog, I don't see a way to show from which address book the
displayed contacts are.

Sometimes I copy addresses from our company address book (r/o for me)
to my personal contacts folder (so that I can set reminders etc.), and
of course it finds the contacts in both. However, unless I add some
indicator to the name or the company, I don't know which one is which.
It simply displays "name (company)" (and not even the File As, which I
would expect).

This must be something others have run into before. Is there a
solution (other than using Advanced Search :)?

Thanks. Nothing really helpful for me in there.

I guess I just have to continue using workarounds, the Advanced Searh
for really simple searches, and hoping that they get it right in the
next version... :)
