FINALLY AT LAST I HAVE A DVD RECORDING....
Yee Hah!!!
It was made using 5 various slide shows using WMM and NERO's slide show
maker, each a separate show or chapter.
All plays excellent thru my little Lite On settop recorder dvd player.
Images better quality than my previews except when viewing directly on my
LCD monitor.
Now...
Pgm I used to do the rip and burn Cyberlink Disc WIzard which came as a part
of my USB DVD burner. Nero came too but it was NOT set up to burn a DVD. So
they bundled Disk Wizard.
HOWEVER
There was no info as to an option to finalize the disc. It was a DVD+R.
my Gateway DVD/CDRW drive does not read the disc. So how do I know if it
has been finalized???? Izzit automatic? Want to add a final trial to the
disc but dont want to mess this baby up being the first one...
TIA for any help, AT LAST things are shaping up...
FYI about 4.2 hours to burn the 5 shows, largest with 100 images, others
with 35 45 etc....

If you've burned a Video DVD (as opposed to a data DVD) it should
automatically be finalized.

Next step it to try one of PAPAJ's custom profiles in spite of sharpness
being apparently good. A few days yet to do same.
I may try adding a small show to this disk? If it WAS finalized then it
should not accept a new movie/show,correct?
conversely if it was NOT finalized I should be able to addon easily subject
to space needed, since its a DVD+R......

Well one master copy, tried again to duplicate, ended up with some coasters.
Just TOO much sidetalk regarding how to do things, cant hardly ever get back
to the right place. I managed again to reco my disc image (OOOOO I got a new
work correct I THINK) which then needed to be what, recoded(?), inorder to
play. Took the ususl 3 hrs yes it was shorter.
BUT
I tried to use NERO to, SIMPLY, copy the finished desktop doagle program to
another DVD using two drives disc to disc and it took TWO hours!!!!!!!!!
Shouldnt a std copy be maybe 15" max????
Kindly advise ow WHERE using which of the 6 or 7 programs that comes with
it, to use to get a COPY of an alaready TV playable disc and not in 2 hrs...
TIA

Larry Its HARD WORK being three score and ten....

Don't use Nero, but if I was doing this, I'd use DVDShrink to make a copy of
the DVD to the hard drive and then the Copy DVD Movie feature in Roxio v8
and v8.5 to burn the files/folders on the hard drive to the new DVD.

So if I have my AVI or WWM files on HD, "all" I gotta do is rip and burn as
is? Thats what I M unable to do now....
Whatever happened to drag and drop?
or
I just left TMPGEnc DVD authoring site, is that preferred over Roxio v8
and DVDSHRINK (Freeware or ????). How the @#$@$@#$ I managed to copy to
dvd earlier dont know. but I can only BURN my AVI to another DVD in the
usual 2 or 3 hours- I also hope to overcome that????

?????????? LARRY ?????????

UP? Where IS up?????

Allright- I now have several slide show programs converted from AVI etc,
useable playable on settop standalone DVD player/recorders and easily seen
on my Gateway 42"plasma TV. Tested andproven, music , transitions,
misspelled words on text frames, etc.
NOW I WANT TO DUPLICATE THOSE FINISHED FINALIZED CREATIONS.
Not AVI intermediates, nada. Finished done polished creations to give away
to relatives.
but But BUT
How the )(#)$(*()@#*$ do I make duplicates of these program discs?
I have found NO way. I can drop and drag a jpg or tif of a couplea megs
over and save it. But my creation? Havent found a way.
I just said to meself, AhHAH I can go to my settop unit and have its menu
format my DVD+R. Dream on.
HELP?

TIA

The one and ONLY

Well the good news I was able to copy from my Toshiba DVDdrive to the USB DVD
drive. Enabled the drop N drag. Took about 12 min for a copy, managed to
edit it before copying, that is not copy all the items of each of the two
different discs. My smart USB drive did ask me to format it, and nicely
agreed to do so. Then I copied.
AH yes.
Copied.
The originals played on set top box, copy not. Assume they will play on
computers tho, each has the data for each section or 'story' in a 3 part
format which was automatically numbered as they were originally wrote to the
original (not copy) disc.
Guess its a Nero setup, such as VTS_02_0.IFO or VTS_01_1 VOB

AH yes.
Copied.
and useless on a setop box tho the original played on same.
copied.

Since you have Nero installed then DVDShrink, as Cari suggested, will do the
job quite easily and without the need to copy to your harddrive first.
It will load the information from the disk that is completed and then prompt
for a blank disk.
It will then copy the DVD info to the blank disk creating a copy that IS
playable in the standalone DVD player.
If you want to make multiple copies then DVDShrink also has the option of
saving as a ISO which can be loaded whenever you want to make another copy.

Ahhhhhh Soooooo
WooooJooooo speak in truth.
However YHOS [Yer Humble and Obedient Servant] keep having problem with all
fine and dandy programs espoused on fine site here. Oh no, no problem if I
have Full Dollar Top End Fully Loaded program bought from website or CompUSA.
What the rest of us poor debbils have is NOT what YOU have, it lacks 5 to
25% of the tricks, commands, and information.
YHOS in this case has Nero which came with my fine China made USB DVD
burner. But after much time making love to said program, find that NERO in
its wisdom included disc NOT named Nero Expreess, but Named Nero Express SE
or Nero Express LT (light?). IS THIS THE SAME AS NERO EXPRESS????????????
Seriously doubt it, maybe THATS the problem not DVD SHRINK????
Please provide URL to access DVD SHRINK and information that it works with
Nero Express SE or LT.....
Please note I will be doing more work on this family history, that of
giving every slide/scanned picture a number and letter ID. And send a CD
along with all my slides ON CD so folks can use Windows foolproof builtin
slide show, tho sans transitions, music, et al.

L.

Still tickin' but barely. I spent all day Monday recovering from the non
copies non playable.

forgedabout the URL for DVD shrink
IT AINT FREE........................
Runs from $18 on up for a 'membership' to another dorky site.
Is this a great hobby or WhAt?

YES VIRGINIA, THERE IS A SANTA CLAUSE. Its hidden in a program somewhere,
that U need to do what yoiu want to do. Finally found my Clause, it was in a
copy of SONIC record now. Little program that came from 'somewhere' that I
tried in frustration.

A Problem. Cant make/dropNdrag movies or chapters to make a longer movie.
Then when I enbled DLP or somesuch it allowed me to do that.
Still couldnt get DVD burned. Hence the SONIC SOLUTION.

B Booted Sonic, it gave me a window in plain english, asked if I wanted an
EXACT copy, not just a copy, let me drop N drag the items to be recorded to
DVD. Always there was a NEXT button, very nicely simplified.

Then I burned to DVD. Two bars to measure est time and actual time, mine
were about 15 minutes to burn. I burned from an original slide show file(s)
in my TOshiba laptop with DVD drive read only to a USB IOmagic $80 on sale
burner. Got that DVD after it popped out, put it in the TV budget LiteON also
$80 sale settop dvd recorder and VIOLA we have the program copied!!!!
Complete with a menu window and purty picture for each separate section, for
the recipient to click on and play that portion.

COntinued to make copies, about the third time the recording stopped 1/3 way
thru, window said check the receiving disc for dirt and fingerprints, clean
etc. Did so, still no copy. Then another window or note saying that in some
cases its BETTER to not utilize two different DVD drives, but only ONE. The
window also STATED like a nice program would, that a gig would be reserved on
my computer HD to hold the data I wanted copied.

Believe I changed the destination from the I/0 magic to C drive. Then next
and those selections burned to C. From C it automatically burned to the I/O
magic. bingo no problem.

Continued to burn 4 exact copy discs, testing each one in the settop dvdrw
to be sure they show and sing on my plasma tv. yep.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SONIC had excellent concise explanations of each step if one was interested,
very helpful. ALso limitations and reasons for in copying.

YHOS is now a SONIC record now program booster.

YEE HAHHHHH SONIC.
