Take a look at this: freeware file manager Fiman for Windows 2000/XP.
http://fiman.galanc.com/, less than 300 Kb, doesn't use MFC or .NET runtime.
Background file operations, a lot of view settings. Unfortunately,
no archive support at this time .
Fiman is not very stable now, but IMHO it will be a great file manager
in future. Similar software includes free version of PowerDesk
(http://www.v-com.com/product/pd_free_trial.html)
and old and free version of Servant Salamander
(http://www.altap.cz/ftp/salamand/salam152.zip).
