filtering data into different workheet

Hi there,

I would be most grateful if someone could please help me out here?

I have a huge spreadsheet with 1600 rows, column 'A' containes 2
different categories i.e. fuel gas, produced water, gas export, etc.
also have anoher column which is 'C' this states the last inspectio
date. What i would like to do is create a new table listing al
categories and total number of each which have data in the column 'C'.

Another option if this one is not possible would be to create 2
worksheets, thats one per category which lists all rows specific t
that category, so if sheet1 was for fuel gas all rows which have fue
gas in column 'A' would be listed in that sheet.

I hope i have explained myself well enough, i've been stuck on this on
for ages!

Have you tried using data>subtotals to get what you want and just copy to
another sheet.
To get what you want, you might have to use data>autofilter to filter for
data in col C and copy and then apply the subtotal.
