Hello

We'll using Outlook 2000 Sp3 with Exchange 2000, we have a
about 100 contacts stored on a Public folder on Exchange
and each contact have their own user define fields, this
works ok , but when we come to filter the views using the
standard view, Using the customised view option then
setting filter and then select user define views it
dosen't work properly.

Does this mean it is not supported, or would we have to
purchase additional software??

thanks in advance.

It means that if the user-defined fields are not already defined in the
folder -- as evidenced by their appearance in the User-Defined Fields in
Folder list in the Field Chooser -- you will not be able to use them in view
filters until you add them, using the New button on the Field Chooser.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, However I not
sure if I'm still doing the right thing...

Within the contact folder under public folder, I click
view, current view, define view, modify the current view
settings, click the fields button, select user define
fields to select from and add the fields to the right
column, click ok , then click on filter, click on advance
tab and then select my filter variables based on the user
define fields , but it still does not filter correctly.

Is this what you ment by the user-define fields are not
already define in the folder??

Would you mind shedding some more light on this because we
have now over 300 contcats and if we could get Outlook to
filter out contacts that we don't want to see that would
be most helpful.

many thanks

Wayne

No, that's not quite what I meant. I meant that if you don't see the field
names in the User-defined Fields in Folder list, you would need to add them
by clicking the New button before you can use them in a filter
