Filtering and charting problems

I guess i'm having more problems than not.

I've been trying to use autofilter and using xy charts.

I have a series of information which can be grouped into differen
events. I'm using autofilter to help me sort the data. When graphin
the 1st series, all seems well until I filter the results back to
"all" or another one and try to add another series of a different even
to the same graph. Instead of locking in the points already on th
chart, excell seems to go ahead and chart every point between cell
that appear in the new filter.

Here's an example. Currently I have my database set up to log event
by time. I use the date and time to plot it on to a wheel (thanks t
Tushar). each log that is entered is then categorized by location o
the event, type of event and who conducted the event in the same row.
I would like to use different symbols on the wheel for the differen
types of events making separate wheels for each location.

to do this, i used the auto filter function to first separate th
location from the others, and then attempted to graph each event typ
after filtering.

Is there a way to lock in the points after plotting them and the
filtering again for new information over and over? I need to put abou
6-8 different symbols on the graph.
Also, is there a way to make the add in labeling software match th
cells as well?

Thank you gurus for your help

When you filter the list, you make use of Excel's default behavior to
ignore hidden cells when plotting. When your filter changes, different
cells are visible, so different points are visible.

You could try another approach. On my web site, I describe how to make a
chart that seems to have conditional formatting, depending on which
criteria are met. In my example, I use formulas to either put a value in
a cell if the formula is true, or to put #N/A into a cell if it is
false. In a line or scatter chart, #N/A isn't plotted. You could adjust
the formula so your criteria are tested, not mine. The example is at:
