Filter By Form

I have a form that has a subform and another that uses the tab feature within
it. When I filter by form to find specific criteria, I don't get the proper
filtered information. It works if I filter only within the information in
the Pimary form, but not when I want information filtered to a field in the
subform or tabs. Is there a trick to use filter by form when you have this
combination of form or tab?
 
It's a bit hard to follow exactly how you are doing the filtering and what
you mean by properly filtered.

I tries a quick experiment in NWind. If you load the Orders form there is a
sub form. Right click the Product field and "Filter by selection". This
Seems to work.
