Filter by Form Problem

I have 16 text box fields on a form. When I try to Filter by Form on
two of them, the drop down list for their data does not show when I
click on the little down arrow beside the field. Instead, the cursor
moves to the field to the right of the one on which I am working.

Now, if I go to Form Design and move either of the two just one little
grid line to the left, the drop down list appears with all the entries
for the field.

I really want to leave the where the are. What can I do to accomplish
this?

Thank you very much.

I haven't seen this, but I wonder if maybe the text boxes overlap with
the neighboring controls, and Access is getting confused as to which one
you mean. If this is the problem, my guess is that you are going to
have to either reposition or resize the controls slightly so that they
don't overlap other controls. Note: you can move the controls by less
than a grid line, and you can position controls with respect to each
other by selecting them both and clicking Format -> Horizontal
Spacing -> Increase/Decrease/Make Equal. You can get them to just touch
without overlapping by first increasing the distance between them and
then decreasing the distance until they touch and won't move closer
together using this menu command.

All that, of course, is just my guess as to what's going on.

Thank you Dirk for your prompt reply and suggestion.

I looked closely at the form in design mode and found there was a one
grid spacing between ALL the text boxes. All but the two I mentioned
work fine. Go figure! One of them is one grid from the left side of
the window and the other is in the middle of a line of 4 text boxes.

I'm not looking foward to rearranging the form but if it must be, it
must be.

Thanks again.

If they don't overlap, I'm at a loss to explain it. If you'd like to
send me a cut-down copy of your database, containing only the elements
necessary to demonstrate the problem, compacted and then zipped to less
than 1MB in size (preferably much smaller) -- I'll have a look at it,
time permitting. You can send it to the address derived by removing NO

Thanks again, Dirk.

EUREKA, as some ancient Greek said. I discovered that if I clicked on
the leftt most portion of the little grey down arrow box, the drop down
list of the field contents appeared. If I clicked on the center or to
the right of it, the move to the next field on the right occured.
Apparently, there must be enough room for the little box to appear
without overlapping the label of the next field in spite of the fields
not appearing to overlap in the design mode.

I am content though not happy about making the adjustment to the form
now that I think I know what was causing the problem.

BTW, thank you very much for your offer of examining the database. I
really appreciate it but it doesn't seem necessary now.
