VueScan 8.0.4 / Minolta ScanMulti Pro / Fuji RAP on a Win2K machine

Very heavy and large "pepper" dots appear all over 6x7 cm film scan
that are not dirt on the film and do not respond to heavy IR cleaning,
but are effected by sharpening. The dots are not visible with loupe.

I also scanned some Portra 160VC and no such pepper appeared on that
scan, nor has the pepper ever ben noticed on a scan before.

I haven't tried scanning other pieces of RAP film, yet.

Thanks for any help,

Frank

PS: my email address is now "kolwicz@
exchangenet
..net", ignore the one above. If I ever figure out how to change it in
my Google account I will, but for now I can't access my account.

It's a feature of that film :-(

Thanks, Bart,

I read that article and it seems like my "pepper grains" are a lot
more severe than that described in Luminous Landscape as they are
visible at much lower scan resolution, in darker areas of the image
and show quite clearly in my inkjet print from the image that caused
this question.

It's funny how my intuitive use of the word "pepper" for the effect
matches theirs as I had never heard of it before.
