I am trying to build a fill-in form with some of the
cells protected. I am unable to find out where to
protect just a few cells at a time and not the entire
worksheet? Example: Date:___________ -- the date would
be protected and the line would be the fill-in...

Thanks.

What you do is to select the cells you want to be able to "fill-in", click
"Format", "Cells", click the "Protection" TAB, then uncheck the locked
option. Then click "Tools", "Protect worksheet". Since those cells are not
locked you can enter data in them. By the way, you can hold down the CTRL
key and click on all cells to do this once!

All the cells in a new workbook are locked.
You need to select the cell you want to unlock, go to Format, Cells,
Protection, and uncheck the "locked" box.
(I also colour the cell Ivory so I know which ones are not locked!)
When you have finished the worksheet go to Tools, Protection, Protect Sheet,
and protect it either with or without a password.
