Is it possible to fill cells with colours apart from the 40 shades within
Format -Cells - I'm looking for a light shade of Red that's not too glaring

Thanks

You can change one of the colours in the palette, and use that:

Choose Tools>Options
Select the Color tab
Select a colour that you don't use, and click Modify
Select a colour on the Standard or Custom tab
Click OK, click OK

Select a cell, and choose your colour from the Fill Color dropdown

Thanks Debra, never knew you could do that

Hi John,
Actually there are 56 colors in the Color Palette, to see the rest
(those not shown on the toolbar icon)
Format, cells, patterns (some colors are duplicated)
Format, cells, font -- had you wanted to use a different Font color

To change color of a colorindex value (Debra already indicated how)
