i have three questions:
1. Is it possible to open and read in plain a bag file?
2. How do I open a file that is simply called file, no
ext?
3. if these files are corrupted, how do i fix them?

Hi Ben,
1. Is it possible to open and read in plain a bag file?

Never heard of a bag file, perhaps you meant bat? If so, right-click it and
choose edit.
2. How do I open a file that is simply called file, no
ext?

Right-click/"open with", start with notepad. Do not set the file to "always
use....". If it is a text file, you will be able to read it. If it is some
other type, there may be some text entries you can use to decipher what it
actually belongs to. If you right-click the file and choose properties, you
may get some additional clues from the version tab.
3. if these files are corrupted, how do i fix them?

Depends largely on what's actually wrong and what type of file it is. There
is no one "cure all" for everything.
