I would like to transfer files from my old PC running Windows 98 to my
laptop running Windows XP. I have found that most storage devices that
I thought I could use to make the transfer are compatable with windows
98SE or higher.

I welcome suggestions as to how a transfer of files can be made.

Take the hard drive out of the old computer and install it to the new. You
can retrieve the files and then return it to the old computer or format it
for extra storage.

Most hard drives will NOT fit in a laptop. Or am I missing something
maybe??????????

You have to file it down. 8-) I seemed to have missed that little tidbit.
They could purchase a external hard drive enclosure, they are pretty
inexpensive.
