Files & Settings Transfer

I am trying to transfer my files and settings from my old laptop to my new
laptop. Both run Windows XP and I am using the Files & Settings Transfer. I
have hooked them together with an RJ45 ethernet cable but when I hit
"autodetect", the two boxes cannot communicate with each other. Both of them
keep searching for the other without sucess. What am I doing wrong?

You need a 'crossover' cable.
If you are using that, then you need to use sysdm.cpl to put them both in
the same workgroup.
