Was transferring files using transfer cable from "old computer" to "new
computer". All files in "new computer" in Outlook have disappeared. Is
there anyway of recovering these?

They are contained in a pst file, by default called outlook.pst

Was OL allready set up/functioning on the new PC?
Did you copy the pst file to the default location on the new pst?
Was this file outlook.pst or had some other name?
Some info on copying/migrating data
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm
NB Overwritting a pst can cause corruption, copying a pst whilst OL is open
will cause corruption

Outlook was already set up on new PC.

Just transferred whole of user account and settings from old PC to new.
Only problem is in Outlook all other programs have files from both old and
new PCs.

The OL & its data does not work like, eg word and its data
You have to specifically open the other data file, within OL to see the data
held in that file

Read the various 'how to' in the link I gave
