I cannot get windows to recognize a slaved drive. It sees
it in bios and in device manager but not under my computer
or explorer etc. There are files I need to get off of it
if at all possible. The master and slave are both w2k.

Suggestion: Try setting the hard drives as "cable
select"...making sure the correct hard drive is first.

Also, you may need to update your bios. Plus, if both
hard drives are W2k...does that mean they both have the
same file system? (NTFS, FAT, etc.)

Hope that helps...

Pam, you need to partition and format it before it will be seen as a
drive letter.

1) Right click on My Computer and choose Manage
2) Select Disk Management in the left pane
3) You will see the 2 physical drives in the right pane. One will show
your existing drive letters and the other will show unallocated space.
Right click on the unallocated space and choose Create Partition.
4) Create a basic disk with one primary partition of the maximum size
(the size of your physical hard drive) and format it NTFS.
