files on cd not displaying

I have a cd-rw that I've been saving files on for some
months in individual folders. Today about half of them
disappeared and the remainder are showing the same
creation date (?) however, if I try to recreate a folder
that is missing, it tells me that it already exists on the
drive.

Apparently the folders/files are there, but not
displaying. Help!

Start >Settings >Control Panel >Folder Options >View [tab] > "check" Display
the full path in the address bar >"check bullet" show hidden files and
folders >"uncheck" hide file extension of known file types.

Start >Search >For files and folders > type the name of one of the files or
folders you need;
did it show up?

If not, it can be transferred to a floppy via a command prompt...

Sorry, I should have said that I checked the folder options 1st. All are OK

Find File search shows up nothing

The files are too big for a floppy(:<

Those settings were already in place. Still no go. I
know the files are there, because if I create a new folder
it appends the next number ( ie New Folder (2), New
Folder (3), etc.) but as soon as I hit F5 or go up one
level and back to the cd it disappears. Any chance a
windows update has bugs? :)
