"Files of Type" does not offer all options

There is an article, Q200906, that explains my exact
problem...when I go to import a text file in Access 2000
there is no .txt option under "files of type", but the
article doesn't list a fix...can anyone help?

Hi Tom,

This sounds like one of the common problems that are fixed by one or
more of the following steps.

If the import/export wizards don't work at all, re-register ACCWIZ.DLL

If it's one or more file formats that aren't listed, re-register the
following files
msexcl35.dll (Excel)
msxbse35.dll (dBase)
mspdox35.dll (Paradox)
mstext35.dll (Text, CSV, tab-delimited))
In Access 2000 and later, the filenames contain 40 instead of 35.

To re-register a DLL file,

1) Locate it (usually all these are in the Windows\System32 or
WINNT\System32 folder.

2) Locate the file regsvr32.exe.

3) Drag the DLL file's icon onto the regsvr32.exe icon.

Thank you for your response. Your fix got me about half
way there. I now have the option of importing text files,
but when I highlight them and hit import it appears to do
nothing. No box comes up asking how I want it delimited,
etc...it just goes away.

Hi Tom,

Check out http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;292269
and make sure that the correct version of ACCWIZ.DLL is registered on
your computer.

If that doesn't help, try

Thanks once again, it worked! The proper version of the
accwiz.dll wasn't located in the system32 folder, it was
under the office folder!
