Files in _vti_cnf and other files updated

I'm pretty new when it comes to FP. I'm not sure what I did but something
caused most of the files in the _vti_cnf directory and many files in the web
directories to be updated, i.e., the modified date is now the current date or
the time I did what ever caused FP to update the files.

I was trying to restore some files from a backup, and running some of the
Reports to find out how many unlinked files were present on the site. I may
have hit something else, but not sure what would cause all the linked files
to get updated.

Anyone have an idea what would cause that. And can I undo it somehow by
restoring an older version from a backup? I want to maintain the original
modify dates so our team has an idea when the files wre last modifed by us.

Any time you run a tools recalculate hyperlinks on a new site it will update the meta data files
- does not affect your site content so don't worry about it
