Files disappeared

Hello. Using XP Home, I moved a folder containing 1000 files from the C: drive to the D: drive to make space available on C:, then changed my mind about that location and right-clicked on "undo move". When folder returned to the C: drive, it was empty...all 1000 files gone. None of the missing files are in the D: drive either. I've searched the root directory and the hidden files, and all the other areas for them with no luck. Any idea would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much...Zaq.
 
Hi Zaq,

No idea why that happened, but I'd stop using the system and start with a
file recovery tool. This freeware one may help:
