Files disapear from directory.

Had a folder on my disktop for files d/l from the
internet. draged a few into that dir and then opened
it...noticed that all the contents of that dir were gone.
Tried some programs to recover lost files but none of
those files were found. I oviously have a disk error
some where. Running Win2000pro..ntfs...any solutions??
 
It's probably a user error, not a disk error. It's likely that you
inadvertently dragged something where you didn't mean to without realizing.
Search your entire computer for the directory or filename to see if it turns
up.

I have been testing it....the contents are missing from

the folder. I have checked permissions and they are
ok...i have tried to place things in it and they just
disapear...like a black hole!!! its weird
 
Is it perhaps something that happened because of View---Customize this
Folder...?

dont think its that...the folder is empty..none of the
