Files creation date changes

Greetings.
Is there a way to stop the system from giving a file a new creation date
just because I copied/pasted into a different folder?

Only with certain 3rd party programs. XP won't do so
natively; anything that appears in a folder that wasn't
already there, was "created" at that point in time.
