When I try to transfer in a file I always get a response like this:
"The file C:\Documents and Settings\brenda\Desktop\My Videos\Home.mcs is not
a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker".
I get a similar response when I try to import audio.
When I try to save the file to a different format the computer will not give
me any other options. Can you help me please?

Where are you getting these files with an .MCS extension?
The only references I can find to this extension involve DOS communications
or CAD programming.
Basically from what I can see an MCS file is a DATA file not a movie file so
of course it is not a supported filetype. What type(s) are the audio you are
trying to import?

When I uploaded my VHS tape to Pinnacle software then it asks to save, I
click on "Save As", I give it a name but the drop down menu does not give me
a choice as to what extension I can save it to. I just tried importing music
to add to my video and this is the response I got:
"The file C:\Documents and Settings\brenda\My Documents\My Music\04 What a
Wonderful World.m4p is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported
into Windows Movie Maker". This is so irritating! I didn't have a choice to
save it to anything other extension other than .m4p. What am I doing wrong?

Brenda, try converting the m4p file to wav or common audio file for you to
import to movie maker. You can download free converters for this purpose and
they work! Ciao!

i am not familiar with computers but i get the same response, how do i change
the file type from a dat file so that it is compatable with windows movie.
i have made movies before. is there a difference when i have captured a
movie on to a video camera then put it on to a tape, then record it from the
video to my copmuter then on to cd. the picture is rubbish and seems to slow
down.

I would assume the same. It is the MCS extension that throws me I can find
no reference to that extension that is at all connected to Audio/Video.
Now the M4 file on the other hand now that is at least an extension we all
know and also know it isn't compatible with WMM.

nope, wish people would learn to post their results and/or solutions so
everybody else can benefit from them.
