Hi There
I have run the Wizard on the old computer and directed the setting file
folder direct in the new computer using a Home Network with no problems. Then
I run the Wizard again but this time on the new PC. Come time to pick the
file then I select the proper folder with everything in it. Windows then says
that there are not back up file in this folder??? and to select the proper
path etc Well, it is 8 GB and yes the back up is there. It was created by
Windows. As of matter of fact I had done the same process at 3 other
occasions and never had any issues doing so. Why can't Windows see the back
up files? Now....I am starting wondering if it has to do with the fact that
the old one is Home Edition version and the new is one Professional ( Both
32bit )

Please help
Thanks
Bob

1. You should ensure that you use *exactly* the same version of FASTW
to create the file as you do to restore it. If, for example, the
old computer is running Windows XP and you use the FASTW oin it to
create the file and then use the FASTW version on the new computer to
restore then you can sometimes encounter this type of problem.

2. When you save the data you should make a containing folder to save
it in. I always create one named Transfer and tell FASTW to save the
data there. Then when I resotore I point the FASTW at the Transfer
folder and not at the subfolder within it created by FASTW.

3. Dealing with corrupt Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (F.A.S.T)

Hi Ron
Thanks for your help.
How do I go to find out what version of Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
both computers are running? Shouldn't Windows Update taking care of that?

Appreciate your support
Bob
