Recently I upgraded a Windows 98 machine to Windows xp Pro. I used the
Wizard to transfer all Files and Settings. In
the past no one complained or reported any problem, Files and Settings have
transfered accordingly without a glich.
However, someone who is upset has written the message below and I need
answers.

"My computer was recently upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP. In the
process, a new hard disk was installed. ITD used a Microsoft transfer
program to move "everything" from my old disk to my new.

Yesterday, I discovered that not all files had in fact been moved. (The old
hard drive has since been recycled.) I have yet to figure out what got left
behind, but the omissions appear to have been more or less random. For
example, in my International Tax folder, Problem Sets 1 though 4 were fine,
but Problem Sets 5 through 9 had disappeared. I've talked with ITD about the
problem; my best guess is that the Microsoft transfer program is not
completely reliable.

In addition, the transfer program randomly capitalized (or not) my folder
and file names. While this may be aesthetically unpleasing, it is not a
disaster. It does, however, suggest that the transfer program is buggy."

Is the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard is buggy? What has really went
wrong during the transfer? what about the randomly capitalized the files
names fiasco?

I followed all the steps as recommended by Microsoft and I used the Wizard
so many times in past and no error took place. Need to hear from you guys or
Microsoft.

Anyone out there has any feed back? We can do better than this. I need help
guys!
