I recently ran three scans of my system.

MSAS scanned 692 memory locations, 12,620 files, and 8657
registry locations, for a total of 21,969.

Trand Micro HouseCall scanned a total of 102,708.

Norton AntiVirus scanned a total of 140,639.

Why does MSAS only scan 21,969 locations on my system, and
how can it catch all the spyware that might be on my
system if it ignores 80,000 to 120,000 locations?

I don't know how the scanset is defined. I do know that, in terms of
finding spyware, this product has consistently rated well--generally at the
top--in indepenedent published reviews.

So what I take away from that is that they are scanning "enough."

An antivirus app is looking for different critters.
