Undert Local/Documents and Settings/John/ is listed a 173KB file labled
simply "~". It was created 1/7/04 abd when I check Properties I get no help.
When I double click, I get a Windows window telling me it can't open it
without know what program to associate it with. That gives me two choices;
let a website identify it or I can. Obviously, I'm no help so I clicked to
let the website do it. That took me to
http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?Ext= and then some
strange looking Arabic letters with dots and dashes over someof them. That
site then tells me the page can't be found due to a HTTP 400 - Bad REquest
Internet Explorer error. When done the first time, however, the message told
me I wasn't qaauthorized. (For what?). I shortened up the url to see where
it might lead and got to http://shell.windows.com/. Unfortunately I got the
similar results; error 403.
Can anyone shed any light on this. I green to XP and still fumbling my way
around. I have no idea where this file came from. I suspect it's not
supposed to be there becaue.... it doesn't seem to be useful for anything.
