I have an image of a cd on my computer, and it won't
delete. It's saved as a .bin file a .cue file. Whenever
you try to delete it, it says its being used by another
person or program, or can't be deleted due to access. I
shutdown all other processes but the neccessary ones, and
it still wont go away. I'm also the admin. The only thing
I can think of is that the computer picks it up as an AVG
(anti-virus program) update. I need to get this file off
my pc, because it takes up half a gig and is completely
useless! Please Help.

Ya, I just wanted to thank Mr. Solomon for not actually
giving good advice. Ya, i got fid of the file, but half
of my pc went with it. Did you actually check what you
were recommending people? The first thing it said to do
was to run a dos program that checked the file's position
by not being able to delete it. I didnt know that it was
going to delete everyting to find this file. I just want
Mr.Solomon to know to check up on things before he ever
gives advice to anybody... on anything. Most people here
who need help, dont know a lot about computers - remeber
that.

Sorry, I didn't have that problem when I used it myself and I've used it on
a few occasions so in answer to your question, "Yes, indeed I not only
checked what I recommended but have in fact used it on my setup." Kelly
Theriot who created the site and is a fellow MVP well be interested in
knowing the problem you had and may have some questions in that regard
though it may not be immediately as she is currently offline and expect her
to be so for a few weeks.

I do sincerely apologize for any trouble this may have caused you, I'd also
point out the third line in my signature, something I post with ever
response.

My point is, there is always a chance, with anything you might do to resolve
an issue that you have, the system may become unbootable or files you don't
wish to be deleted are deleted or the USER might actually make an error in
following the instructions and cause a problem. I often offer the advice
and step by step instructions for performing a repair install. While this
is supposed to be non-destructive, it will on occasion render a system
unbootable, even when the USER has followed instructions exactly as posted
as things can and do go wrong and I do strongly emphasize in my instructions
that they should be well backed up even though I consider that a give for
everyone. Perhaps I should have offered that in my recommendations to you
as well though I've never seen this issue with this particular
recommendation and had no reason beyond the fact it's a computer and as
stated above, anything can go wrong, to assume this danger existed.

First rule of good computing, "Make good backup."

Again, I'm sorry for the problem but I've used it and I've posted it for
others and while there have been times when it didn't resolve the issue,
this is the first I've heard from anyone that it caused the problem you
specify.

I understand your being annoyed and even the need to lash out and cast blame
but the implications of your post are flat out wrong. I have used the
advice and I've posted it for others. I haven't tested it on every single
user setup imaginable but the experience I have had up to this point has
been non-destructive.
