I recently went to a recording studio and the files were saved as 24-bit wave
files, which I found out is not compatible with Windows MovieMaker. What do
I need to convert these files to in order to preserve the quality of the
recording and make it MovieMaker compatible?

If you lower the quality to 16 bit you will not be avble to keep the same
quality. It may not be noticeable to you, or it may, but still be
acceptable. Your choice.
As for how to convet it, it depends on what audio editing software you have?
If you don't have one which will do the job, try googling for a free or
cheap one.
