Hi,
It re-registers the shell32.dll file and hence the various registry
settings are reverted to "factory conditions". This also fixes the very
commonly experienced 'Search companion opens when i double click a
folder'.
The registry can be manually edited to fix the problem too. More info

Editing the registry manually should be done very cautiously since editing
it incorrectly can render the OS un-bootable.
