When I downloaded a file and tried to open it, it said it did not recognize
the file needed to open it. Then I got a window that showed programs that
could be used to open this file and i accidently made it so that the file
would always be opened by Power Point Viewer, which isn't right. Now every
time i download a file like it I can't open it. How do I reverse this??????

Right click on the file.
Move your mouse pointer down to Open With.
On the menu that pops out, select Choose Program.
Click on the program you want to open this type of file or hit
the Browse button if it's not in the list.
Once you've got the right program selected for this file type,
put a check mark in the box next to "Always use the selected
program to open this type of file".

You can also accomplish the same results by going to Control
Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types page. Click on the file
type you want to change and hit the Change button.

Good luck

Do the following;

Go to Control Panel and double click Folder Options.
Click on the View tab.
In the Advanced Settings box, remove the check mark from the
box next to "Hide extensions for known file types" by clicking
on that line.
Click OK to close Folder Options.
Next, find one of the files you're trying to open.
The name of the file should now have its file extension
displayed. That's the portion of the file name after the
period.

Let me know what the file extension is. That will give us some
clue as to exactly what program opens that type of file.

At the very least, post back with a link to the web site where
you're downloading these files you can't open.
