You need to check that the IP addresses on the card in each computer is configured to not recieve IP addresses automatically (not a rule but i do not APIPA can handle this correctly
Then give them IP addresses such that they will be on the same subnet (just to be sure
Ensure NetBT (NetBios over TCP/IP) is installed on each card's protocol stac
Join each computer to a workgroup with the same name (I wouldn't use the default "Worgroup" name
Reboot each computer and create your shares and you should be all righ
This is assuming you had a means of testing the cable beforehand to avoid any surprises.
