I used the transfer wizard to try to move files from my old computer (W98SE) to my new one. After repeated failures, I had my old hard drive placed as a slave in my new computer. Now, I can't get my old Outlook (2002 XP) to transfer my saved emails, addresses etc to my new Outlook. Worse, when I go to my slave drive and click on Outlook, just my new stuff pops up. Help! Where's the old stuff? How do I transfer

Dale

Ok Dale!

You're having a rough trot.

Now Outlook! Outlook data is stored in a '.pst' file.

1.
Search the (OLD) slave HDD for '*.pst'. If successful
(1 largish file[10's of MB]), MAKE A NOTE and go
to step 2.

1a.
Put the HDD back in the OLD PC, and run OLD Outlook.
Display the Folder List, Right-Click 'Personal Folders',
Click 'Properties' and then 'Advanced' - you will now
see the name and location of this file. MAKE A NOTE.
Put the HDD in the new PC again as a slave.

2.
Run NEW Outlook (which will show your NEW stuff).
'File'>'Open'>'Outlook Data File' and navigate to the
'Slave' HDD and your OLD data file.

OLD NEW
Now copy everything from Calendar to Calendar
Contacts to Contacts
etc etc.

FINALLY close the OLD file, remove the OLD HDD
and SMASH IT! This wont do any good, but YOU may
feel better - mind you a bottle of Scotch .......
