File transfer PC2PC using USB cable

Looking for a program that will allow me to transfer files and directories
between my laptop and desktop PC via a USB cable.

as far as I know USB is not capable of bi-directional comms without a
special usb cable
genesys make a bridge cable, works fine i've been using it for 12 months
with no probs
