Hi,

after installing Windows XP on my C partition my Windows 2000 can't find
it's SYSTEM file (registry file: winnt\system32\config\system). Before I
installed XP everything was fine. So I guess the file is ok and I also
can see it in the directory. The filesize is less than 7 MB.

It looks like Windows 2000 can't find the right path. But in DOS I can
see the file too a the right windows path.

I checked if replacing the file with older versions would do any
difference but there is still the same message.

Thanks for any help.

What does it say in the boot.ini file? Did you install Windows XP in
the same partition as Windows 2000?

It was on other partitions.

I saw when booting in safe mode that some other files had been loaded
and it stopped at the SYSTEM file. So I took an older system file from
an old backup. After installing some drivers it looked ok, but it was a
dirty fix because I am not sure if something is still missing or not.

So, it's ok now. Thanks.

You're welcome.
