File 'snap'

When dragging files around in a folder, it seems you cannot place the
file where you want.
It seems to 'snap' into a pre determined position.
Sometimes I want to delete a bunch of files in a particuliar folder,
saving only a few.
The best way I found to do this, previously, was to drag the ones I want
to save to a different location within the folder, then left click/ drag
the rest and hit delete.
Now that I've run into this problem, its not possible to do that.
Anyone know of a setting that can be tinkered with that allows you to
drag files and folders wherever you please ?

You do not need to move any file/folder to select and delete.

To select multiple files and folders:

To select consecutive files or folders, click the first item, press and hold
down SHIFT, and then click the last item.

To select nonconsecutive files or folders, press and hold down CTRL, and
then click each item.

To select all the files and folders in the window, CTRL + A.

Yes, but if the file I don't want deleted are in the middle, this
won't work.
To select nonconsecutive files or folders, press and hold down CTRL, and
then click each item.
Much simpler to just drag the ones I want to another location, and zap
the rest.

Thanks for the tips.

Suit yourself. ;-)

Click (highlight) the files you want to keep » click edit » click invert selection.

That is true.

"But I always did it this way!"

I don't see too many people hand cranking a car engine lately though.
