file sizes

As I teach Access online, I find that some students can
create 3 queries, forms and reports and send me a file
having a size maybe 200 kb, while other students create
the same number of objects and their file is 5 mb in size.
What accounts for the difference in sizes?

The ones with the small file did it one time and got it right. The ones
with the large files worked and worked making and deleting things over and
over.

All that work is saved, but not seen until a compact is done and then
the database shrinks back to normal. Of course data can also make a
database larger, or using images etc.
