I'm really confused on how to put a movie up on the web so that
someone can link and open.

I have a movie that is just over 3 minutes long. Saving it to Video
for broadband at 540 kps results in a .wmv file of 12,812 kb. I've
tried to upload this to my Earthlink host several times, and it just
won't upload.

The only think I can think of is that the file's too big.

Are there suggested file sizes for .wmv's?

If the file is too large, can it be compressed?

12.5 MB shouldn't be an issue for a fast connection.

There are lots of sites available for uploading
video files...here are some examples:

YouTube (free video sharing site)
http://www.youtube.com/index
(100MB limit per video)

Putfile.com (free video sharing site)
http://www.putfile.com/
(25MB limit per video)

ZippyVideos (free video sharing site)
http://www.zippyvideos.com/
(20MB limit per video for free accounts
and 10MB for anonymous uploads)

There you go. I linked to this site and the .wmv went up without a
problem. Dunno why Earthlink wouldn't take it.

It's a clumsy video that I made last August just after I purchased my
first video camera, but it's kinda cute:

Thanks for the assist.

Excellent! You're welcome and thank you for
the update.

I guess that's your son...he's a real showman.
Hang on to that video...it'll be a hoot when he's
grown.

FWIW...I'm not up on all the legal issues but I
suspect it may a good idea to be careful
about uploading copyrighted music.

Cheers.

Hi Tony
The video wouldn't load for me for some reason so I couldn't check it out
but the problem with uploading to your EarthLink provider may simply have
been a filesize limit. I know that before I updated (and of course paid more
money) for my hosting service I had a 5mb filesize limit which is why some
of the videos on my website aren't very high quality. To get around this I
had to render my movies special for my website using the "Best fit to
filesize" option in Movie Maker set to 5mb.
