File Size Limits?

Are there any limits (KBs? pages? other?) to the size of a Word document? I
run Word 2002 on XP Pro with plenty of memory and disk space. I'm working on
a document (100% alphanumeric) that has grown to 2.7 MB (700+ pages). Is
there any reason why I cannot (should not?) just keep going and going?

That's not a very big Word document byte-wise. Word 2000 has a maximum text
limit of 32MB.

Just be sure to keep offline backups! For important documents, I zip up the
file and email intermediate copies to different email accounts.

While Word can handle large files, I don't think you will like the slowdown
that results with large files. I have a fast computer with a lot of memory.
I have some Word files that exceed 10 megs and while I can open them and use
them, things slow down greatly, esp if you have a lot of editing to do. One
of my large files is the Complete Works of Shakespeare. When I want to do
some work with it, I generally copy the play and put it into its own file
and work with it from there.
