When capturing video to my hard drive, the file size is
limited to 4gb. I have windows XP Home formatted to
NTFS. I have tried capturing to my computer HD and a
Maxtor External HD (also formatted to NTFS). I have also
tried the video capture using both Nero Express and Sony
ImageMixer software. Each time, the file is limited to
4bg. I also run Norton SystemWorks 2003, but haven't seen
how that would be limiting file size. I know an NTFS HD
should be able to handle much larger files. Any idea
what I need to do to fix this?

Thanks,

Hi,

Double click My computer, right click C drive and click
property, check the file format, it should be FAT32 if
the file size is limited to 4 GB.

Thanks for the inputs. I am sure the drives are NTFS.
After some further tinkering, I have discovered that the
problem only occurs when I am capturing analog 8MM tape
through my Sony TVR-22 DV Camera. When I don't have the
8MM camera hooked up and I just capture directly from the
DV tape, I have no problem with file size. So I guess my
solution is to copy the 8MM tapes to DV tape, and then
save them to the hard drive.

Thanks again,
Kevin

I have to admit I gave up on analog capture ..... If I need to capture a
VHS, I capture it to my digital camcorder first, then firewire it in to the
PC. Never have a problem that way, even if it's an extra step, it saves my
sanity!
