We have one computer on our local network running XP
home, that has all of our common files shared on it for
all to access.

Although everyone is accessing different files, Only 4 or
fewer computers can access the shared files at a time.

What can I do to increase the number of users to the
computer with the shared files?

Windows XP Home has a built-in limit of 5 concurrent logins to a
shared resource. That includes the Windows XP Home computer itself so
there can only be a maximum of 4 other users on the network logged in
at any given time.

The only "solution" is to upgrade the Windows XP Home to Windows XP
Pro, which will then allow up to 10 concurrent logins.

If you require more than 9 users to be able to access the shared files
on the XP system then you will need to consider a server version of
Windows or moving to some other operating system for the file server
computer.

Good luck

You know, you might want to ask that question on NT, ME and 98 boards.

If there is a built-in limit do you know what it is?

10 concurrent logins, same as XP Pro.

Good luck
