I have two computers, both have Windows XP Home Edition SP1. They are
connected to a router and share a DSL internet connection. How do I setup
these computers so they can share files?

Do you have file and printer sharing enabled? Simply
right click "My Network Places" on the desktop and choose
Properties. Then right-click on the Local Area Network
icon to open its properties. Make sure "File and Printer
sharing for Microsoft networks" is checked if it isn't
already.

Then you can share your folders or disks. Simply locate a
folder you want to share and right-click on it and choose
Sharing.

Run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both computers and tell it that they
connect to the Internet through a "residential gateway". The Wizard
will make all the necessary settings:

Hi Steve,

I got it to work. File sharing is great, I no longer have to use disks to
transfer files from one computer to another. The Network Setup wizard was
easy to use, once I realized that I had to configure the firewalls on each
computer, but that was easy too.

Thanks,

Too Steve

I have run the Network Setup on both of mine Win XP Pro.
When I look at the Workgroup I can only see the whole
group on one (PC1) computer. The other XP Pro
(PC2) says:" the network i not accessible. Maybe you are
not authorized to use this resurs".I also have one
computer -98 Se as I can see from Pc 1.
From Pc2 I can ping all units on the network, all gets
the same subnet through my routehers which use DHCP.
When I seek for computers on Pc2 it will find Pc1.

Sorry for a bad english
¨Thanks for all help in advance.

Best Regards,

Sven-Åke
