Is there a setting in Windows 2000 that automatically
disconnects you from a share after sitting idle for some
time??
Here is my scenario: I am running windows 2000 and am
accessing a macintosh file server share. When I first try
accessing the share it requires a username and password. I
enter my credentials and I can access and copy all the
files without a problem. If, however, I don't access the
share for around 20-30 minutes, then try accessing it
again, it gives me an authentication error and won't let
me see the files. The problem is that it doens't ask for
my credentials again after giving me the authentication
error message. It just won't let me see the files. I have
to reboot my system, then reauthenticate to the share
before I can access the files again.
I've checked the setting on the mac file server and the
connection timeout value is set to none. I'm wondering if
there is a timeout variable on my windows 2000 box.
