On our LAN, file and print sharing is used in a peer-to-
peer environment with a main file server running W2K
server. Just yesterday the PC's could no longer see this
server under network neighborhood, nor can a drive be
mapped directly to the IP address of the server. Pinging
the file server is successful and IPC$ and print$ are
showing up under net share as well as all the shared
folders. If Network Neighborhood is opened on the file
server, all the networked PC's and the file server appear
but on the other PC's only the file server is missing...

Help, please!

!!!Similar Problems--sorry not help. But I cannot sign on
to 2K from my 98 because it asks for an password IE:
\\Billy\Laptop\IPC$. I have not set any password
requirements and have changed according to M/S the Guest
profile. DO u have any suggestions to remove the need for
the password OR what the password would be since I have
never set anything to use a password. Also I have tried
the only two password ever used on my machine. Thanks for
any suggestions,
BP

Make sure of the following:
1)
the two computers are part of the same workgroup

2)
file / print sharing is enabled on both computers

3)
Make sure that you use the same account and password on both computers.
i.e. if you login with Administrator on the W2K machine with a blank
password, do the same on the Win 98 machine.
