Hi,

I have 2 PCs running XP connected together in a workgroup, with simple file
sharing switched off. I can printer share and access the shared documents
folder on either machine from the other. I can ping each machine from the
other without a problem. From this I assume that my network is set up
correctly.

When I come to network share specific folders I can't seem to give
permissions to users on the remote PC (via the "Security" tab), because the
"Locations" button on the "Select Uders or Groups" popup only shows the
local PC when I click the "Locations" button. This situation occurs
regardless of which network PC I am worjing from.

So the questions is: Why can't I see the other (remote) PC in my workgroup
when I click the "Locations" button?

Thanks in advance.

Create matching user accounts (same user name and password) on both
computers. Assign permissions to the local user account. Those
permissions will apply to the same user on the other computer.
