I'm having a problem with Windows XP Pro in a networked
environment. I have 3 XP Pro computers networked
together, and with their C drives shared out completely.
For simplicities sake, lets call the computers A, B, and
C. However, I get a 'Access denied' message when trying
to access Computer B's C drive from Computer A. I'm not
sure why this is happening, all of them were setup in the
same fashion and at the same time. I've done a lot of
networking with Windows NT and 2000 and never had much
problems; is there something that I'm not doing right with
XP to cause this problem? Thanks for the assistance,

Mark

I'm going to assume that you are not on a domain, running
any servers on this network. I'm also going to assume
that you are using some sort of switch/router device like
linksys, etc. to run DHCP so that all the computers are
hitting the same "smart" device.

Now:
#1, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER set up a share of the entire C
drive. #2, You would need to create a login account for
each person on every machine, review some "peer to peer"
documentation online. #3, if your trying to network XP
Home, good luck!

I have a similar problem.

I have three computers hooked up D-link wireless router. Two computers are
XP pro and one computer is XP home. My Laptop is XP pro and my desktop is XP
home. My friends laptop is XP home. My desktop that has XP pro can access
the data on the XP home laptop. My Windows XP pro laptop cannot access my
friends laptop. It gives error say don't have permission to access it. I do
see it on the workgroup but when I double click on the computer it gives me
error. What do I do.
